About This Course

This course is ideal if you want to improve your Maths for work, further education or personal development. Whether you’re starting from scratch or brushing up on what you already know, we’ll guide you through at your own pace in a friendly, adult-focused environment.

What You’ll Learn

You’ll cover key numeracy topics including working with numbers, fractions, percentages, measurements, data and problem solving. You’ll learn how to apply these skills to everyday scenarios like budgeting, using timetables, understanding payslips or comparing prices.

Where It Can Take You

A Functional Skills Maths qualification can help you access employment, Apprenticeships, or further study - including vocational qualifications and teacher training. A Level 2 pass is widely accepted as equivalent to GCSE Maths.

Course Structure

The course is delivered part-time and flexibly, with a blend of classroom-based or online sessions, individual support and independent learning. You’ll work through practical tasks and prepare for a short assessment at the end of the course.

Do I need to be good at maths to start this course?

Not at all - this course is designed to build your confidence, step by step, even if you've struggled with maths before.

What's the difference between Level 1 and Level 2?

Level 1 focuses on essential maths skills for everyday life and work. Level 2 is more advanced and can be used for job applications or further study.

Is Functional Skills Maths accepted like a GCSE?

Yes - Level 2 is accepted by many employers and education providers as equivalent to GCSE grade 4/C.

What kind of maths is included in the course?

Will I have to take an exam?

Yes - there's a final assessment made up of calculator and non-calculator papers. We'll give you the support and preparation you need to succeed.
