About This Course

This course is designed for qualified fitness professionals who want to safely support pre and postnatal clients. You’ll explore the physiological and biomechanical changes that occur during pregnancy, and how to adapt exercise programmes to meet the changing needs of clients at different stages.

What You’ll Learn

You’ll learn how to assess readiness for exercise, adapt training intensity and technique, and monitor physical and emotional wellbeing. The course also covers contraindications, health screening, and client communication during and after pregnancy.

Course Structure

The course is delivered part-time through a blend of online learning, practical workshops and written assignments. You’ll complete a client-focused programme design and demonstrate safe practice in simulated sessions.

Do I need to be a qualified Personal Trainer to take this course?

Yes - this is an advanced, specialist qualification. You'll need a Level 2 Gym Instructor qualification (minimum) and ideally Level 3 Personal Trainer before enrolling.

Is this course focused on exercise, nutrition, or both?

Both. The course explores safe and effective exercise for pre and postnatal clients, along with the role of nutrition in supporting health during and after pregnancy.

Can I train pregnant women one-to-one after this course?

Yes - the course qualifies you to design and deliver tailored, safe training programmes for women during and after pregnancy.

Is this course suitable if I've never worked with pre or postnatal clients before?

Absolutely. You don't need prior experience, just an interest in supporting this group and a suitable fitness background. We'll give you the tools and confidence to get started.

Does this qualification allow me to work with postnatal clients in a gym setting?
